Yannick Noah, born May 18, 1960 in Sedan in the Ardennes, is a tennis player and captain, and a French singer.

During his sporting career, he won the French Open in 1983, which makes him the only French player to have won a Grand Slam tournament of the Open era in men’s singles, but also the highest ranked French player on the ATP (No. 3 in July 1986) and the most titled in singles with 23 titles. In 1986, he was also ranked #1 in doubles. As captain of the French Davis Cup team, he led the French to victory in 1991 and 1996. He did the same with the French Fed Cup team in 1997. He is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame since 2005. In September 2015, he took over as captain of the French Davis Cup team, succeeding Arnaud Clément, and led the French team to final victory in 2017. In December 2016, he succeeded Amélie Mauresmo in becoming captain of the French Fed Cup team again until April 2018.

He began in 1991 a career as a singer, to which he has devoted himself full time, successfully, since 1998, with a break from 2015 to 2018 when he resumed the captaincy of the French Davis Cup and Fed Cup team. The son of Cameroonian soccer player Zacharie Noah, he is the father of French basketball player Joakim Noah.

Following the death of his father in 2017, Yannick Noah, who has always had strong ties with Cameroon, became chief of the village of Etoudi, a population of 5,000, a few kilometers from Yaoundé1

Biography
Yannick Noah was born in Sedan, France on May 18, 1960, the son of Zacharie Noah, born in Yaoundé, Cameroon (then a French mandate territory) on February 2, 1937, a professional soccer player and winner of the French Cup in 1961 with UA Sedan-Torcy, and Marie-Claire Noah, née Perrier (1937-October 1, 2012)2, a teacher from Ardennes. Her maternal grandfather, Marcel Perrier, an art teacher at the Lycée Turenne, published half a dozen collections of poems in Sedan, and her paternal grandfather, Simon Noah Bikié, born in 1901, was a combatant in the 1st Cameroon Rifle Regiment during the Second World War. Upon his return, he sent his son Zacharie to study in France. Yannick has two sisters, Isabelle and Nathalie épouse Proisy. His first name Yannick comes from the friendship of his father at the club Sedan with Roger Lemerre (coach of the French soccer team during the victory of the European Cup 2000) and Yannick Lebert, in fact the three companions had promised to call their first son the name of one of their friends, what the mayor did first by calling his son Zacharie.
